3 Sunny Travel Destinations on My Bucket List This Year

Now that Peter and I have returned from Mexico where we stayed on the stunning Nayarit beaches, I am able to cross off an important part of my sunny travel destinations bucket list. When it comes to sunny travel destinations, there are three that I’d added to my list and that I’ve made a priority of visiting.

There are many different places I want to see in the world, but when it comes to the winter, I’d like to stick to destinations that are sunny and warm. There’s a reason Peter and I moved to Miami when we retired – we’re not fans of months upon months of freezing weather.

There are other places on my bucket list that I’d like to visit in the summer, but in the winter, I insist on keeping things sunny.

For now, the top 3 sunny travel destinations I have on my bucket list for the winter months include:

Mexico

Peter and I recently returned from the most gorgeous luxury villa in Mexico, nestled right on the sunny Nayarit beaches. We stayed in Villa Estrella, which was the perfect getaway for pampering ourselves, relaxing, and unplugging. I’m hardly as addicted to my phone as some people, but it was great to be able to relax in the sun and not think about anything back home for a while. I also think it was the most romantic vacation we’ve ever taken, in Mexico or anywhere else. It was great to be able to focus on ourselves as individuals and as a couple, in a place where we could let ourselves be fully spoiled.

Costa Rica

I have wanted to visit the happiest country in the world for quite some time. The Happy Planet Index really did call it the most satisfying place to live. I’d like to experience what it’s like to be in a place like that. Beyond that, I love that it is peace-loving (doesn’t even have an army!), it has a large focus on environmental friendliness and, if you like coffee as much as I do, then it’s really not somewhere to be missed. I’m hoping to visit there either in early spring this year or in the late fall (I’d say next winter but I plan to go back to Villa Estrella at that time).

Morocco

Compared to the other places I’ve visited in my lifetime, Morocco is completely different. It’s sunny, beautiful and absolutely nothing like anywhere I’ve ever been. I’m keen to experience the collision of history, culture and natural environment within one adventure.

It’s going to be a great year. I’m hoping to make sure I get all three of these sunny travel destinations covered before the year is done.
